thanks for the reply
the sand was brand new petrobond so the mix should have been perfect.the sand around the casting has been turned into black dust.
maybe it,s just me worrying over the massive change from brand new pink sand  this stuff costs 30 pound for 25kg so it aint the kind of stuff u want to replace when your dooing a lot of practicing to learn.
hopefully it will smoke less less when it has been used a few times.
