Hi friends

I have a forging unit and we manufacture Stainless Steel forging flanges. WE face the problem of Cracking of products. The cracking is about 25% of production. We have checked with raw material and they are fine.

it is probable that the carbon buildup in your torches is due to flashback...burning up the acetline line.It's that popping sound i bet you kept hearing.
A common cause of popping is worn out O rings. The ones from the mfg are a bit more ...
