acetylene torch question

Hi
I am new here on the artmetal site. I am sort of a newby to jewelry making too. Have recently been re-enthused about the whole thing again. I recently took a class at the local arts center on bracelet forming using copper. I really felt like I learned a lot in the class. But I haven't been able to pursue it at home because of an issue I'm having with my torch.

prestolite air-acetylene torch

I am returning to silversmithing after 20 years. I have a B tank acetylene torch with prestolite torches. I use air rather than oxygen so I have only one tank. When I light my torch (0, I believe) it has a pretty little blue flame but goes out most the time when the hose is moved. I've cleaned the tip and tried to adjust the air but I'm not sure what else to do. Does any one have any suggestions? How are the tips put on to allow enough air I have tried to locate instruction of the tank and torch tips but haven't found much other than turning it on. Any help will be appreciated.

Torch help!

Hi all,

This is a great site! I have been having difficulty soldering relatively large pieces of metal together (two different projects: 6" x 4" piece of copper into a cylinder and two 1.5" x 6" pieces of brass together. I have a fairly old propylene torch (not sure of the make) and I have noticed the rubber hose that connects it to the tank is slightly cracked. At any rate even getting easy solder to flow is extremely difficult. I am using flux intended for jewelry from Rio Grande (sorry can't remember the name exactly.) Is the torch leaking likely my problem? Or is more the large size of my projects?

Studio Setup

Good morning all!
I'm new to the site, and after taking a year off from any metal work, I'm attempting to get back into the swing of things, and attempting to set up a studio at home.
Being a product of an average 4 year college, I am rather at home with being in a school metals studio, but have never had to set up a studio from the ground up.

Propane Rosebud Setup?

Hi all, I want to get a rose bud attachment for my torch, but I have to convert from O/A to propane to use one and was wondering what all I need to get. I have the R100 handle and am looking at the Metalmaster #6 heat tip(is this a good size, a #8 is available). What kind of regulator do I need to get and do I need new hoses?
