This is a pair of gates I made for a Philadelphia surgeon. The original design came from one of my paintings, but I changed the colors to harmonize with his home. Inside the "cage" you may just make out 2 Jaguar automobiles.

Big Remote Shutter Release

Here is a door handle that I made for a camera store. The owner suggested I make something that signified operating a camera, so I chose to make this remote "shutter release". He wanted a nickel finish rather than the chrome that I suggested.

Owl Weathervane

This owl weathervane was commissioned for the UNC-Chapel Hill Humanities Department. The owl has a stainless steel strap skeletal structure with individually formed copper sections riveted to the stainless structure. The front half of the copper tree limb (pointer) was filled with molten lead to add a counterweight to balance out the weight distribution so the wind pointer could rotate properly. The compass rose was cnc plasma cut out or 1/4" thick naval brass. The letters were gold leafed. The central axis section was made of stainless steel. The eyes were hand blown glass by a local glassblower.

Since Art is based upon the imaginative, fantastic or creative drives, it is a discovery process, fraught with adventures for the Artist’s mind. One solves problems with a product in mind, while the other has the encouragement of discovering novelty as its goal.

I finally had a chance and some decent weather to deliver and start installed a railing that has been waiting for months. I was a little afraid that they would not like the finish or the design. They were not home when I delivered it and measured for the hand rails.

This is my current practice piece. I think it will probably wind up as the top of a box with Celtic knot work on the sides. Even when I don't have a repousse commission I like to keep in practice.
