I have just received an email stating the Mathew Clarke's new book is now available. You can find it at http://www.schifferbooks.com/newschiffer/book_template.php?isbn=9780764332470

My understanding is that in this book, Mathew has featured work from many blacksmiths inculding Tim Cisneros, and some of my work.

Male torso tank 'the viking'

Good day folks
Wanted to share my Custom motorbike tank with you. Its being introduced at Earls Court custom bike show this weekend! Its a hammered steel torso, 20 guage steel. Our artist friend sculpted a torso and cast it in fibreglass for us. I used this as my template. Unfortunately the fibreglass was not strong enough to hammer onto, like the female torso, so the forming was done into a sandbag and using every single metal forming block I owned. Will post pictures of both the mould and the sheet before I shaped and welded it to the tank.We chose a Thors hammer petrol cap alongside an inverted round chainmail chain to hang it on. The difference that putting the chain on made was amazing, it really put across the concept of the warrior that we wanted to achieve. Hes been left metal and heat coloured. First responses were very good. Andy was being obstinate about adding shoulders to the tank, with no forma or cast and only 24 hours to get to Earls Court. The night before he wasn't going to send it but attaching the tank the next morning went really smoothly, we got a second hand tank and chopped it about, and hes pleased with the end result.
