Sculpture Gallery | copper | painted finishes | steel | wall sculpture The Wife wanted something very simple and delicate over the Fireplace. We are once again remodeling, and I had some scrap copper laying around so I cobbled up this peice. She loves it!! I'm not so sure I care for it to much, but it's growing on me. » read more | 2 comments "alienation"

Architectural Gallery | copper | forged steel | garden gate Loved Nic Easts cobweb gate so thought i'd show you mine. Just finished for a Wiltshire Wildlife Exibition in July. The gate is steel, as is the web and the ivy. Old copper water tanks made up the spider and ivy leaves, scrap cable for the legs. My favourite bit is the long tapered vine with a bluebell on the end, (Artistic licence!) Will be mounted on reclaimed oak fence posts. Really dont want to paint or galv it. Is there a laquer suitable for steel fo outside, I cant see anyone oiling it regularly. Owl Weathervane

This owl weathervane was commissioned for the UNC-Chapel Hill Humanities Department. The owl has a stainless steel strap skeletal structure with individually formed copper sections riveted to the stainless structure. The front half of the copper tree limb (pointer) was filled with molten lead to add a counterweight to balance out the weight distribution so the wind pointer could rotate properly. The compass rose was cnc plasma cut out or 1/4" thick naval brass. The letters were gold leafed. The central axis section was made of stainless steel. The eyes were hand blown glass by a local glassblower. » read more | 5 comments Golden Elm Wire Tree Sculpture

90% Copper 10% Tin Bronze source?

bronze | bronze casting | casting | copper | smelting | tin Hey all, I'm trying to get ahold of straight 90/10 CuSn Bronze for some bronze age tools and experiments. C90700 Phosphur Bronze is about as close as I can come to it with a commercially available product. I was thinking of simply smelting my own, but the cost of copper is just insane right now. $7.67 per pound for copper is just nuts. Anticlasic Raising in Free-Form

Anticlastic Raising | copper | free form | hammered copper | hand wrought | raising copper | YAK Gallery This is a piece of Copper scrap I found in my Studio, which was a negative from some flames I cut out a while ago. I filed down the edges, and used the Anticlastic technique to see how the shape would react to it. I got some amazing curves, and the transitions are smooth. With more practice, and a wider range of sinusoidal stakes I'm positive I will be able to create some amazing pieces. » read more | 5 comments |
