Hello All,

Very nice to meet you ALL, sorry for my future faults in writing english, as i´m brazilian its hard to not speak spanglish or portunhes.... hehehe

I have been working in mechanics design and projects since the 70´s but now ( since 5 years ago ) i´m trying to set a new way of life working with corten steel, fabricating almost anything that my customers ask for... weathervanes, kitchen sinks, even public furniture and public art (some weight 20tons... other 12 meters height... big corten steel chunks).

Exploring with eyes wide open

I have been searching for a means to create products that require a hands-on approach. I had a business a number of years ago that involved the construction of metal nursery carts for moving plants and trees though I never had any formal training.

Just Another Tinner

Hello group. Just found the site today and signed up. I've been a union sheet metal worker for 33 years now and I'm still learning new skills all the time. The past six years or so I've worked for a commercial kitchen contractor. We install all kinds of stainless steel sheet metal items. One of my specialties is welding/grinding/polishing stainless work tables and sinks. The picture below is me welding on a custom "L" shaped sink and work counter. The project is a horse racing track near Detroit, Michigan. After the pieces were welded together I polished it all back to a #3 finish which has a smooth brushed look. I like working with copper, too. I'll post a pic or two in the future.

Well here I am 43 years after picking up my first torch and learning how to lay down a bead. I do have to mention that it has been 35 since I had the pleasure of welding! I just received 6 books I purchased online and I am building a shop! The changes in equipment are magnificent. The work I see some of the members are making are a true inspiration.

Perhaps we can barter, I am a degreed metallurgist with 27 years experience is steel copper, stainless, heat treatment, failure analysis.

Hopefully, some of you will know me and I look forward to reacquainting with you and to meeting new metalworkers. I am an 18 generation blacksmith and have been forging for over 17 years, taught internationally and have been published in numerous books and periodicals.

I have recently aquired an old coal forge and have never used one. That is why I joined, to learn. I am excited about learning the many ways to manipulate different metals and tools used.
Thanks,
Newbie

Hi all,

I am new to this site and to the blog world in general. I am also fairly new to coppersmithing. I have been dabbling in copper for about a year and a half now and I really love it! I have learned Everything that I know through trial and error, going to shows, searching the net and reading books. I have made a LOT of mistakes but have learned SO much through it. I have a website and have been selling a few pieces, just enough to cover the cost of material and a few tools. If anyone would like to view my work and give me feedback on it, I would appreciate it. My site is www.carolinacoppercreations.com, I am looking forward to learning from you guys and also sharing my experiences with you in hopes that you will benefit from it too.

Hi everyone, not only am I a new member, but this is the first time I've ever joined any kind of social networking type site - it may take a while to learn the ropes. This site has popped up often when I've been surfing for metalwork related information, and it looks like there's some very talented and knowledgeable people here!
