Welded Steel Sculpture

dvd about my work - in french -

| | | | | | |

This is a link to a dvd on youtube about my Metal Art Sculptures. It is in french, I live in France, but I believe images tell more than words.

For me, the great joy in my work comes from turning something considered worthless into the artwork it becomes. In this way I am showing my respect for the metal.

Local steel company commissioned this outdoor wall/facade hanging piece to compliment the 7' "alerting traffic next to the road" version

Coming Of Age

Coming Of Age

Approximately 4' tall, mild steel abstract sculpture. Flap-disked parts of it and left others to their raw state. High gloss protective clear coat. In retrospect, I would choose a 1/4 x 12" round or square piece of plate to use as its base in place of the 2 x 4 or 2 x 6, whatever it was I used which I thought was neat-o back then...thank goodness for the cognition of artistic erudition.

I took this photo just after I finished welding it up and I was thinking that the members and visitors of ArtMetal could /would appreciate it for what it is. .....

I'M NEW HERE AND I'M JUST STARTING TO FIGURE IT OUT. THIS IS MY SECOND EFFORT. 9'2" WINGSPAN. WHEN IT WARMS UP A LITTLE MORE HERE IN CENTRAL NY. I PLAN TO GET SOME PAINT ON IT. I JUST FINISHED THE TALONS, AND HAVE YET TO TEXTURE THE FACE.

The Genome Project

Here is something new from my twisted mind! [Laugh]

It's 7 and 1/2 feet tall by 5 feet wide. Hollow balls with 15/16th pipe. A little over 800 joints if you count both sides of the balls. TIGed it all. Getting pretty good at it if I do say so myself. (wait a minute, I did...)
