After Escher

After Escher

Been playing with this for a few weeks.

1/4 inch square stock 6 inchs wide by 2 inch squares. Started out flat and 58 inchs long. Ran it through the slip roller, air hammer (bad idea) and over the anvil.

Only been 2 years and I finally got it mounted!

Only been 2 years and I finally got it mounted!

Been sitting on the work bench for 2 years now. Finally got a hair across my ... and did something about it.

Start with a harrow dish, weld on a 6x6 (I think) thick wall box tube and top with a piece of 1/2 inch plate. Set anvil on top and add clamps to hold in place. Add some hammer holders and all done.

So I have been busy for a few weeks. Finally got the tree planted for the city of Avondale AZ.

The leaves are metal hands traced from the people of Avondale. The tree is 1 inch "tree bark" solid rod. 207 hands powdercoated a golden color. The foundation is 5 foot round by 6 inchs thick with a center plug 36 by 36 by 48 deep. The tree weighs in around 600lbs.

Here is a little tree I have been working on. Stands 14ft tall and a crown of about 9 to 10 ft. The trunk and branches are 1 inch solid tree bark rod. The leaves (all 200 of them) are hands cut out of 16ga steel and shaped in the air shaper.

Boot bug

Boot bug

This is another in a lineage of boot bugs I have made. The purpose is readily apparent to anyone who has worn rubber boots(Lacrosse, Red Ball, etc.) After a long day of working in the mud, the last thing you want to do is to bend over and try and pull those muddy things off of your feet.
