selling via website?

I'm trying to make up my mind about adding a shopping cart to my website. Some folks tell me that's the way to go. I'm not sure. I don't get many contacts through the site as it is now except for somebody selling Canadian meds. The website is handy for directing potential customers when they want to see my work, but it doesn't seem to be doing much else. Web statistics show people (or something) keep visiting.
