Libor Hurda - communicating through the human figure

Blacksmithing | OT: Sandbox YAK | Artist Inspiration | |

I was browsing the web and ran across a master metal artist that I would like to share with you. Libor Hurda has created some fantastic human abstract sculptures which communicate clearly. One of his sculptures "Kentar Enzo" remind me of some of Chris Ray's art. Especially "Tyro And The Serrosteed" from the Quadreverz series. I'm not quite sure why I see the correlation. Maybe it's the wheels? But there seems to be more and I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe you can shed some light on it. Do you see any relationship between the art created by these two artists?

Investment problems

Casting | | |

Ive run into trouble with the investment recipe i used for some abstract lost wax figures that were to be cast in aluminum or bronze. the problem was after the 1000 degree burnout the molds were left really brittle and had large cracks in them. I was only able to pour 1 of three molds, which poured very well whereas the other 2 molds crumbled under their own weight when they were lifted out of the kiln.

TURTLE!

| | |

This seems like a great community of people with neat opportunities for communication about art metal!

I'm assisting my mom and her boyfriend to utilize online resources for their new metal art company, First Thought, Ltd. They've made a lot of neat tables, wall art, small metal sculptures, and recently a very large hand forged metal turtle that's been thoroughly researched for authenticity, but have no clue on how to sell what they make.

Stainless steel wire for the structure and silvered copper to attach the details.
Small garnets for the snake's eyes, coral for the tongues and iolite to add some depth...

I almost hypnotized myself with all those spirals!!
