The Kraken

The legendary Kraken is a wearable sculpture, made of crocheted and knitted 14K gold filled wire. It is holding a pirate ship in its arms, sinking it. The ship has been crocheted with sterling silver wire, and the deck has been woven in the same material, then heavily oxydized.

Introducing Myself

Jewelry | | | | | | |

My name is Johanne Brunet, and I am a self-taught jewellery artist from Quebec, Canada. I work from my home on the south-shore of Montreal, and I am the proud mother (if tired) of two teenage boys (15½ and 13).

Do you have to be a certified welder to do sculpture installations?

My first post!

Hi, all-

I've been an artist for most of my life (painting/drawing and ceramics primarily), but am only now getting into metal sculpture.

I only recently have taken up welding and am getting pretty good at it (of course, it's just simple self-shielded flux-core welding, but it works for what I'm doing).
