Memorial sculpture

Work is progressing extremely slowly on the memorial sculpture. After designing the wings I was determined to have them cut by a local welding shop on their CNC plasma cutter. Gave them a JPEG of what I wanted and they were having a terrible time converting it to an .dxf file.

Rough cut wings for memorial sculpture honoring a fallen Airmen...

first attempt at patina

| | |

I just received the sculptnouveau patinas. I tried the copper universal patina on one of my candlesticks, also applied a green wax and clear coat... on another note- I dropped of the candlestick and a couple other pieces at the local antique/consignment store.

welding class project

I'm taking a tech school welding class for the second time so that I may use their equipment and hone my skills until my garage is completely set up and, most importantly, made fire safe. Here are a couple of my scrap metal projects- keep in mind, I'm very new to this so my stuff may seem mundane by comparison.

Low Rider Kick Scooter

Low Rider Kick Scooter

Re-purposed two junk mountain bikes for parts, used new thin-walled rectangular tube (because of its inherent flex as a natural "built-in" suspension system) for the frame and small expanded sheet steel for the deck.

Sculpture in memory of fallen Airman

| |

A recent tragedy struck home... I was a member of the 86 VRS (Vehicle Readiness Squadron) for 5 of my 8 1/2 years in the Air Force. Last week we lost a member of the VRS family to the Frankfurt Airport shooting. I have wept many tears for A1C Cuddeback, the bus driver who's life was taken.

Got my gears turning...

I have an idea for this...
