firescale | Pickle Hi. I just started experimenting with metal clay. My test batches came out of the kiln completely black. I tried pickling a copper piece with Sparex (I think #2). All the black went away and left a perfectly smooth reddish orange color, but my piece didn't look metallic or shiny at all, more like a dried clay. As it continued to dry, it got all splotchy with strange ugly colors. I'm so confused. How do I get my copper to look like copper? Can anybody help? Finish for steel wire...

brass | brass sheets | copper | Pickle | Sparex I am looking for a good copper and brass pickle. Is Sparex good? Or is it better to use Sulfuric acid and water? I have the articla by bu Bill Seely. He says to use a basic sulfuric acid solution prio to using hs formulas. %5 to %10. I assume that means a solution of 5 to 10 percent sulfuric acid and water. Is that correct? Is that the best pickle? or is there a better and safer method? |
