Hello all,

My name is David Hebert. I've been doing fabricated metal sculpture for about 7 years now, after previously doing structural aluminum fabrication. I mainly do abstract contemporary wall art in steel, and aluminum as well as ornamental iron. I'm looking forward to learning some of the other techniques others of yall are doing. Also could anyone help me get into doing commercial and public art? I'm not sure how to get started in all that and would love to learn.

I've noticed in several posts that a number of you have included glass, plastics and other materials into metal railings and sculpture. How have you fixed the materials in place? I'm particularly interested in outdoors pieces and how different "mounting" techniques have stood up over time.

My understanding is that in this book, Mathew has featured work from many blacksmiths inculding Tim Cisneros, and some of my work.

This mantel piece was made from steel and treated copper leaves. Other untreated leaves were shaped to hold votives, but the entire piece was finished to maintain the colors.

I've worked with metal for many years but when I can combine it with my artistic talents it becomes a passion. Working for a living gets in the way of this passion, but I've been able to create some great pieces as well as functional items people have been interested in. My earlier works were displayed once in a Scottsdale, AZ gallery but I'm working out of my home now with hopes of getting better exposure by developing a website. Thank you.
