keeping flame colors on copper

Can anyone tell me how to keep from losing colors on copper after flame coloring? When applying a clear finish the colors change to shades of gold and brown.

Red patina

Can anyone tell me how to get a bright red patina on copper. Copperjoe mentioned he heat treated the copper for his rose, but I haven't been able to get that to work. When I heat treat the copper turns red but is very dark and mottled.

Copper Roses

Hi, I thought that I would upload a picture of my roses for you to see. All of the roses here in this picture were done by heat patina and they all have copper leaves and brass stems. I have since been doing them with copper green patina leaves and also brass leaves which I engrave on.

This mobile has over 140 butterflies. I was so tired of cutting out butterflies. It hangs from an electric gear motor that spins it slowly in someones home now.
