Balcony Perimeter Handrail / Bracket Detail

BRACKET DETAIL:

Note the wood footings which I had to put under each bracket. The cap rail had to be dead on level... and so the footings were the only way I could make it so. Each footing is a custom thickness. It's amazing how much wood can sag after 180 years.

BALCONY PERIMETER HANDRAIL:

This handrail was commissioned by one of the historic churches in Philadelphia. It is a bit over 60 ft. on the long sides and is 35 ft. on the short side. It was fully installed just before Christmas, 2009.
