The Likeness of Jack Skellington

The Likeness of Jack Skellington

This is one of my earlier pieces...I made this one for my daughter back in 2005, while taking a Metal Sculpture class at the College Of The Canyons.

He was made from sheet, plate, re-bar, and nuts; steel round ball and chain. I MIG welded him together, cut the plate, and re-bar with the torch and used the Plasma Cutter to cut out the Saw Blades, and Face. I think he turned out AMAZINGLY well!

Repousse Gryphon in Progress

This is my current practice piece. I think it will probably wind up as the top of a box with Celtic knot work on the sides. Even when I don't have a repousse commission I like to keep in practice.

A railing that I have been working on

This is one side of a handrail that I have been working on. Now just waiting on good weather to install it. There are 2 hand rail that go with it. I have to wait to get the railings installed to fit the hand rails.

My 3rd attempt at a silver ring

| |

OK boys and girls, in order to buy some tools to do the wedding bands, I had to agree to make a wide band ring for the best half of this 25+ year union. This is 7/16 of an inch wide. It only took 2 tries to get it right.

A little bit about me

I was born in Tucson, AZ and was raised in Central Arkansas. He has always enjoyed art in many forms and spent several years as a semi-professional photographer. Metal work came later in life and sparked a line of creativity that had lied dormant for many years.

Surfacing Evolution

Surfacing Evolution

This took me 3 months to complete. I started with small pieces of 18-gauge sheet metal and hammered them into the right shape, then migged them together and ground as I created the body.
The dorsal fins were created using welding rods cut in half and then migged on top of shaped 24-gauge sheet metal. I used large metal ball bearings for the eyes - cut them in half on my chop saw.
