Rowing the Atlantic

| | | |

I am planning to row the Atlantic solo in 2013.
I want to fund the row myself and use the 3000nm trip to raise money for fresh water wells in countries where the need is desperate.
The only way I can raise the 100k needed for such an adventure is to do what I do best ...make metalwork.

Almost done...

This gate (the first of two)is for one of my neighbors,a wonderful Viet Nam Vet who survived heavy action in the first part of the war (1965).Li

Bending channel

I need some advice on forming channel.  Hawke Industries claims that thier tube bender can form channel for gate arches and I'm wondering if it's possible.  I'm looking to purchace a tool that does this and with what I consider as a full search on this matter I only seem to have found this one tool.  I've formed channel in the past on an old power roll former at my last iron works job and it was a pain because the channels would collapse.  So I would roll so far and with a couple tools I made would work the legs and web as straight as I could and then repeat the process.  Has anyone had any experience with this Hawke Tube Bender.

Some fun gates that play with an arch ...part of the Miami project.

Eye of Horus Gate

This is a newly finished commissioned gate for one the gardens of some dear friends.
It forms a protective amulet for their bees, and the other butterflies and hummingbirds that are attracted to their strategic plantings.
