I'm new to ArtMetal, however I'm very impressed by not only the works being created but the amount of support that members provide to one another.
Currently I am building a fireplace screen. I am wondering what my choices are for metal finishes as I am concerned the heat of the fire will effect finishes.

Well after fourteen years of putting up with an ugly black store bought fireplace screen it was time to make my own. I used some free brass or bronze door kick plates for the cladding. There is a frame work of steel underneath.

Double door fireplace screen. The top branch is the handle that opens the doors. Stainless Screen with forged iron tree and cattails with copper accent.

This fireplace screen was custom made for a client in New Zeland. I used copper, brass, and hand forged steel to create the natural colors. Patinas were used on the cattails. The brass decorations were soldered to the steel parts.
