Hello everyone!!! I am a certified welder working in the high pressure boiler and energy industry. My passion is metel fabrication and metal sculpture. I have worked as a welding instructor at the Sculpture Center Institute in the late 80's and have been working as a welder and metal fabricator since 1979. I love the diversety of the membership and have enjoyed following the interesting posts. My goal is to learn and contribute to the community in a meaningful way.

Are you a master of your art/craft?

According to author, musician, neuro-scientist, Daniel Levitin in his book; "This is Your Brain on Music" ( a New York Times best-seller, Plume Printing 2006) , an expert or master of any craft is measured by that person practicing their craft for 10,000 hours.

 Design is a deliberate planning process aimed toward specific or generalized results. Since Art is based upon the imaginative, fantastic or creative drives, it is a discovery process, fraught with adventures for the Artist’s mind. One solves problems with a product in mind, while the other has the encouragement of discovering novelty as its goal.

I am new to blogging and very interested in learning more as I really don't know what I'm doing. This is my first attempt and I'm learning as I go. I have done this section a number of times as I look into another area and then when I go back everything I've entered has disappeared. Hopefully this time it will work correctly. I am looking for some helpful hints that will assist me with this (don't get technical). I am also fairly new in the metal art business, I design the art and run the business, my husband cuts and finishes our art. I am looking for a serious mentor to assist me in learning how to market, etc, a new business and hopefully miss some common pitfalls that I may not know about as yet.
