commercial art | metal art Went to a large craft store this weekend... I was in Germany for the past three years and didn't have access to such places. I was surprised and a bit overwhelmed by the isles and isles of metal wall art, topiaries and such. For some reason, I found it a bit depressing... The stuff was being sold cheaper than what it would cost me in materials... I'm not looking to get rich by any means... but, how do you compete with mass market made in China-especially in this economy? Or, perhaps you don't try to... New but cant wait to get aquainted.

commercial art | Fabricated | metal | metal art | public sculpture | steel sculpture Hello all, My name is David Hebert. I've been doing fabricated metal sculpture for about 7 years now, after previously doing structural aluminum fabrication. I mainly do abstract contemporary wall art in steel, and aluminum as well as ornamental iron. I'm looking forward to learning some of the other techniques others of yall are doing. Also could anyone help me get into doing commercial and public art? I'm not sure how to get started in all that and would love to learn. Fabricated Sculpture - Kelly Johnston

commercial art | steel sculpture | wall sculpture Hello all, My name is Kelly Johnston. I've been doing fabricated metal sculpture for about 5 years now, after previously doing graphic and product design. I mainly do abstract contemporary wall art in steel, copper and brass, with emphasis on torch coloring, transparent tints and patinated finishes. I previously designed in the home accessories industry for Artisan House Fine Metal Sculpture and have recently started a wall sculpture line for NOVA Lighting. |
