Installing "Via Regia"in Napa

I took my piece over to Napa for the install in the first ArtWalk show put on by the City of
Napa. There are 10 other artists works in the show and all locations for the works are good. the city has made permanent pedestals in concrete of varying sizes. the works will be on display for a year.

Quadrehelix,in situ

This is a new landscaped spot for this sculpture in my 3 acre sculpture garden at my residence featuring 50 of my works. This is essentially my gallery and I maintain the 3 flat acres with a little John Deere tractor and try and show the work to it's advantage. This is the best time of the year to see the outdoor pieces because the grounds are still lush with verdant growth from the Spring rains. I have grape arbors, a small orchard with a variety of fruit trees as well as a vegetable garden and a vernal stream,so there is great opportunity for landscape experimentation. This weekend the faculty from the metal arts department of Columbia College in Sonora are going to visit. They found me on the net and asked to visit. I'm not EXACTLY sure what their agenda is but it should be a pleasant exchange at the very least.

"The Plane at Infinity"

This shape is known by various names ;Boys Surface,Semi-circular Canals, but I like "The Plane at Infinity".
This title is a quote from one of my favorite books called "Sensitive Chaos"by Theodor Schwenk about making sense of flowing forms in air and water.

"Dodecahedral sphere"

I've been imagining how I could make a perfect sphere for several years and finally own the skill to do so...These are stainless discs which are 10 inches in diameter x 3/16ths thick ,cold formed with a 100 ton frame press to an exact radius using accurate male and female dies(which I made). The sphere is configured as a dodecahedron would be(12 plates), except instead of pentagons ,I'm using circles(discs).

"The Family"

The Trione Fountain Sculptures were commissioned by a wealthy Family who had made their fortune in the wine business. I approached the patriarch about showing some work at the winery and it progressed into a commission at his office building.
