| Valshie was startled by the rumbling of tires as they strummed the washboard asphalt that rippled beneath them. Â The trailer swayed dangerously behind then as the bus headed for the opened gap of the shoulder then straightened itself out again. Â They had encountered an earthquake and heads were tossed up against the roof, and bodies fell into the aisle. Â Valshie gripped the steering wheel, trying to maintain control, while Frokky pulled back the emergency brake with all his might. Â The bus came to a gradual halt just before plummetting over the open space once occupied by the collapsed bridge in front of them.

earthquake encounter
After checking for lumps and bruises, it turned out that everyone was okay, only mildly shaken up. Â "Geez, are we beginnin' to notice new grey hairs none of us had before this bus trip?"Â wondered Krik as he rubbed his swollen nose. Â "Naw, this is what being a cool rider is all about", replied Rikolo, finally warming up to the adventure after all this time, "just reset the controls Valshie, an' we'll find another way outta here.", he suggested. Â Magrin came up to the front of the bus to relieve Valshie of the driving chores.
However unbeknownst to them, the navigational intsrument suffered more internal knocks and bumps than was apparent.  What was set on the dials was not quite where they were going.  With blind confidence, the bus  was started up again and it was believed that soon they would arrive at another planned destination.
