The Artoprise Chronicles - Chapter 13

Author/illustrator: Chris Ray - adapted from an original manuscript

The bus now headed deep into the interior and the roads became narrower and rutted. This caused no problems, of course, except when they came around a bend, there in the center of the road was a moose. He stared at the bus, and refused to budge, looking nasty and onery. No one wanted to get out to encourage this beast to move, until exasperated, Karolind said she wasn't afraid of that dumb animal and would move it herself.

She leaned her small frame up against the hindquarters of this stubborn critter and step by backward step, forced it out of the way. "Okay, you can come through now" she advised and stepped aboard the now moving bus. Only it had to stop again a few yards further down the road.

"Okay you dirtbag, you're outta here."

There was now another critter in the middle of the road. Macgrin, who wasn't about to be outdone by a girl, volunteered to remove the additional creature. Of course in the back of his mind, he thought it was only a cat, so he attempted to amuse this animal with a little stick trick, but when he tried to pet the furry little thing, it turned it's back and gave him a spritz of Alaskan cologne.

Stunned, shunned and now smelly, he had to ride out the rest of the trip, hanging off the rear of the bus, since he was not allowed inside.
