The Artoprise Chronicles - Chapter 12

Author/illustrator: Chris Ray - adapted from an original manuscript

The bus headed north the following morning and by late afternoon arrived at the harbor area of Seattle. It was a beautiful bright sunny day, the view was clear, straight out to the horizon. It didn't take long for the ferry to arrive and empty out. Qeuing up to the gate, a ticket was handed over and the bus was the last vehicle to load on board. The throaty whistle blew a warning over the bay. Then the rumbling of the heavy oars could be felt beneath the deck, stroking the blue waters into patterned swirls, marking the borders of it's path.

The shoreline receded into the distance and before too long, another would appear at the bow. This time the landscape would be bright with snow for they were headed for Anchorage Alaska. The bus was anticipating a new trailer to be built. This would relieve it's aching back from carrying the heavy load of excessive equipment everyone insisted on bringing along with them on the trip. The rekown Frokky was the builder being sought out, because of his sterling reputation.

Oh, this was going to be a glorious trip, everybody just knew that, and hoped that seasickness wouldn't spoil this grand adventure. No, that just couldn't happen could it? Naw....everything was simply perfect and nothing could possibly go wrong. The little ferry rumbled happily across the waves, skipping over the whitecaps like a little girl playing hop scotch.

Krik decided to take a walk around the deck. Somehow, that doesn't seem like a good idea.
