The Artoprise Chronicles - Chapter 3

The Artoprise Chronicles - Chapter 3

Author/illustrator: Chris Ray - adapted from an original manuscript

Ahhhh....the old bus was rolling along with quite a song in it's heart now.  With the new frame and structural revisions, it felt like it was simply gliding over a frozen pond on a cool winter morning.  Krik was showing off now by leaning one arm out the window and steering with only one hand, although the roughness of the cracked wheel was still enlarging his calouses, and it was still dancing from side to side.

Heading towards the Ozarks, they ran up against an enormous traffic jam, which snaked along the interstate, as far as the eye could see.

a traffic jam

"Hey Bull, ya think we can cut across the valley there and maybe take a shortcut with this thing?" asked Krik with an expectant expression.  "Aw sure it can" retorted Bull, "Lemme at the wheel Krik and I'll show you all."

Krik stepped into the back of the bus, and kept his hands deep in his pockets. He didn't want the others to see that his callouses cracked open from showing off, driving with one hand on the roughened wheel.
