MULTIPLE SNIPPETSWhen soldering with several pieces of solder, the principles remain the same. It's just the placement of the solder that changes. You will probably want to have all the snippets of solder in position before you do a lot of heating. This can be done either before or after the water (or alcohol) is driven off from the flux. In either case, you will still have to watch the positioning of the solder snippets as the piece is heated and the flux turns clear. It is almost guaranteed that you will have to reposition some, or probably all of the snippets before reaching soldering temperature. They just have a tendency to move away from where you really want them!
Heating the work slowly will allow the flux to dry slowly. This will reduce the bubbling of the flux and minimize the movement of the snippets. The snippets can be held in place by the flux when it cools, so it's best to reposition the solder while the flux is hot. Again, you would heat the whole assembly until it approaches soldering temperature, then focus more attention on the back side of where the solder is located, in order to pull the solder into the joint with the heat of the torch.
