Ulrich Skrodzi

Almdorf, Germany

Ulrich's grasshopper graces the garden of a customer in Ibbenbueren. The Almdorfer sculpture smith worked along with Arne Prohn for about two weeks to create the sculplture. The body is welded out of bands and flat stock; the legs, antennae, and remaining limbs were forged out of round stock. The wing surfaces were cut out with a torch to show the transparency of the wings. The sculpture is about 1.2 meters high, 2.3 meters long, and weighs 180 kilograms.
