Delicate chased patterns cover the entire surface. A dense cluster of nails fasten the wood and iron top inside a long forged socket. The nails are seeds and the finial on top is an iron phallus.
Fertility is celebrated in this ritual object. The regenerative power of women is expressed by calao, the bird rendered with a chisel on the right. Before the growing season, Orisha Oko is asked to provide assistance to promote productivity of all living things.
