First chasing and repousse project - picture frame

My first chasing and repousse project; a picture frame for a friend whose baby just turned one. The glass in front of the mat has hand-polished edges.

Boy, that's an exceptional first project Sandra, congratulations!

The only thing I'd like to see changed on it is the rivets. I think the pop rivets take away form the piece somewhat. You could replace them with solid copper rivets and the look would be more consistent, I think. Solid copper rivets are available online, or you can simply cut little short pieces of copper wire and peen over both ends. If you want the rivets to be invisible, just lightly countersink the holes on each side before you peen the rivets - after peening, just dress the head down flush with the surface.

Try this on the next piece you do and see if you don't think it looks nicer. Keep up the great work!

I debated on the type of rivets to use; I have used the solid metal rivets and I will use them next time for sure. Thanks for your kind words! Maybe I will change them on this piece, I have some time yet.........

Congratulations !
That's amazing for a first piece, with a hammer you're not comfortable with et.c.
The patination is great - that can make or break a piece I reckon.
As usual Rich is right about the rivets, I think.Using solid copper ( or brass) you can make a feature of them, or if you countersink the holes slightly you can pretty much make them invisible.
