The most famous sculptor in Croatia was Ivan Mestrovic ( we actually know his granddaughter in NY...she is Mark DeSuevero's assistant). We promised to check out his home/studio when we visited Zagreb. A city much like N.Y. with an incrediable amount of musuems and theaters etc. This is one of his most famous images(repeated in many sculptures) It's an indigenous woman looking towards the future of Croatia....very serene and mystical. I'll try to find a better image through the internet. His home/studio was amazing . His charcoal drawings inspired me to buy some large paper and charcoal.
