Second Torso

Second Torso

A photo of my second torso. I worked longer and harder on it than my first torso, but don't like it as much. Go figure.

not bad.....but I think I agree with ya. The first one appeals to me more. Maybe it's the angle of the pic. :) Is the "chest" a lil lower?........

Get yourself a turn table..or make one. Put the piece on the turn table at the height you want it to be viewed. This will give you a tool for more easily seeing relationships of positive and negative space, judgeing proportion and for selecting areas that need concentration. It will also make getting the best photo easier. It'll beat the heck out of getting wet each time you want to see the other side. Take lots and lots of pictures. There is in my eye just something masculine about steel or iron. Interesting choice of materials for this form. Darf (short name)

Torso II

JR, Sorry but this one isn't there yet. Rework it, add something strange to it.Make it work. You are on the right path. Stick with it. Janey

Janet, Yep, you're right,

Janet,
Yep, you're right, but at least on this one I learned what not to do next time. Rather than fixing this one, I'd rather start off with a fresh canvas.
Thanks, J.R.

I too think that the first one was a better attempt. This one does not seem complete. Just for what it is worth and I know you are still learning, a woman's torso is more than just breasts and nipples. I myself have been struggling for years to make a woman's torso but to get the lines correct and the portions it has been a tough. To see what can be done with making a woman from steel sheet check out some work done by Jamie Goode .

I have seen some of her work and the pictures on her sight do not show the excellent details.

first torso

good morning J.R. I thought your first torso was soooo much better that this one but ... WHY? did you sell it so cheap?? I saw it on e bay and with all the time you had in it I thought it should go for a much higher price!!!Please don't give your work away!!! I personaly would rather hold on to the piece than let it go!! if you are like me then you put your love and creative talent into a piece to let it go at such a low price is to me sacrilidge (excuse the spelling)Hold on to your pieces untill you get what you feel there worth!!I guess thats why I have only sold a few haha but there my babies and I love them!! the same as I hope you like yours... Take it easy......Bigbob
