Doctor Macabee

Doctor Macabee

Dr. Macabee is made using recycled sheet metal from a hot water tank shroud, 3/8" re-rod and wire from a discarded political sign. His eye lids are counter-balanced. His eyes are suspended on the ends of wire and his jaw is hinged.I started by making an armature (my first) but liked the effect with minimal sheet covering it. My doctor told me to get elevate my leg for two weeks, so I'm haunting this site. I'd rather be hammering.I made Doctor Macabee around Holloween, Boo!

Is he a character from a place, or a place in your mind?

The Mad Doctor?

Hi Alex,
Doctor Macabee is a cacophony of images and experiences; the eyes are what I remember when as a child I took apart my sister's doll. The hair is ram horns, flames and voodoo 'doctor' images. No disrespect was ever meant to be directed to physicians. The hair is relatively symmetrical left to right resulting in a tuning fork effect with some unusual deep resonations. Thanks for the comment.
