very nice Warren, you've captured a bit of realism! Nice! What kind of finish DID you put on this piece? Is that a piece of rock for the base? ![]() pod

Nice piece, Warren. I love the asymetry of the piece. How did you attach the tree to the base? I have started a copper tree and am stumped about the base. Lin ![]() old work

Moti, man you brought up some old work. Thanks for the comments folks. Any ways the base is a piece of marble scrap. No it is not suppose to be a whole tree. It is more to be what is in the pod growing there type of thing. It was more in an exercise to make the pod doing raising technique and anti clastic raising together. It is all made from copper. The trunk I used a green patina over a base of liver of sulphur. Then sprayed with lacquer to seal. On the pod and leaves I used a green vista patina and no sealer so it can keep doing the oxidation thing. If you touch it will leave a little powder on your hand but nothing falls off. On mounting the base, I enclosed the bottom and then put a peg of copper rod. In the marble a hole was drilled for the peg. Put on a glob of silicone adhesive on the bottom and the peg and done. www Metalrecipes -- heat and beat to the desired shape, repeat as necessary. ![]() base

Thanks, Warren. I have made my tree trunk out of solid copper rod and am going to use stained glass for the leaves. I am concerned about the weight and stability of the whole thing. I like the look of your marble but will probably have to use something deeper. Lin ![]() Thanks WarrenI will bring

very good finish...., base
very good finish...., base is looking good too. Is it stone or copper? Nice composition and balance,......... it is reality that most of the plants can not grow to the coplete tree(tragedy). May be you have some thing different in mind, but without subject it is ambiguous.....!
