Transporting the work

Sculpture Gallery | moving the work ![]() This shot is on the day of my completion of the fabrication and the clients method of transporting the work.It weighed about 600lbs so it was somewhat of a struggle for 4 of us to get this awkward shape in the trailer VERY GENTLY without damaging the shape. Those of you who have built a large work that requires an outside crew to transport can relate to the trepidation I experienced having strangers manhandling my baby...LOL.After anchoring the work in the trailer with blocks and many ropes.I followed for several miles to be sure it was not going to shift around or spring loose from it's moorings.Everything went remarkably well, which for some reason surprised me. That night I celebrated it's departure with a nice local Pinot Noir and a good long hot soak.My body was very beat up from 17 days of moving such heavy parts around and much welding out-of-position.But it was good to know I can still pull a rabbit out-of-the-hat if need be. |
