Monitor Lizard

This actually looks more like an Australian Blue Tongue, but who's keeping track...
welded steel, lifesize. Glasses in photo for size reference.
Blue color is merely from heat patina. I've got the torch in one hand and a spray bottle of water in the other. If you get the color you like ,you spray it with water to sort of "fix" the patina. When it cools you spray it with a lacquer immediately. The color will still fade over time but the lacquer slows it down and gives it a nice glossy look.

Stephen, Just spotted this

Stephen,

Just spotted this in the random photos (I see a lot of stuff I would otherwise miss that way). Really great lizard! You captured the feel, posture and attitude of that critter just perfectly - great eye, wish I could do it so well.

How'd I Miss This One?

Somehow I missed this one the first time around too!
Stephen, you create a lot of great art, but this one goes to the top of my fave list.

Thanks you guys,
As you can see by the end of the tail it was a bit challenging to taper a rolled cone to approximate the diminishing dimension out to the tip.In the end I cut slits that would at least allow me to relieve the stiffness and allow me to bend it into a more "believable"curve.
The heavy rebar worked well for the claws I think,as did the patina.
