This piece is the artistic result of living closely with a very small,sensuous,Goddess of Japanese descent. I have tried to represent the calm,quiet,powerful ancient ambiance that surrounded her, reflective of a culture that was refined when mine was just emerging from caves. Her ancestors spoke most eloquently to me through her eyes and since I have an affinity with fire ,I had much to learn and savor...100 strokes of my fine brush to her silken hair each and every night imprinted forever a guide to Slow Down and remember why we have senses,not to overindulge in worldly pleasures ,but in contrast to redefine what in fact IS pleasure,with thousands of years of her culture's ritualized investigation to draw from...
Forgive me if I seem to wax poetic.I am constantly amazed at what in Nature is viscerally wrought,and what in creative imagination is embellished and remembered...I am clumsy with words. What I really wish to say ...is in steel.
