Sculpture Gallery ![]() Well, here it is! The first rough draft of my fountain concept. Really need to render it better. But this is the basic idea. Each petal will fall with it's own retaining pond, walkway in between for viewer to enter into the underneath section . with a sitting area ....(like being in the Maid of the Mist in Niagra Falls)..well not quite. But hopefully it would achieve a peaceful area where the viewer could hear the water flowing....well??? Hope to start a model of it as I think three-d is better for me. SteelyJan Hi Jan: your flower concept

Thats an interesting design Jan.....and certainly "do-able". It might be nice if the water cascades off the side of the petals before it lands in the ponds. This would give a little more sound and enable people in the middle to see falling water. Great idea....now to fund it.... Peter » reply Great!

Hi Janet, I've been working on this piece (a rendering) for a competition I'm going to enter very soon, and what's really funny is the main focal point is along the same lines as your flower with some big differences 'cause it's a piece of jewelry that I'm designing. I've been working on this for a while, so after you posted your flower I thought wow! It just hit home. I just wanted to share that with you. Best of luck to you! Cheers, Jamie Santellano » reply Cool

Steelyjan, I would hate to see what size of pumps would be required to get the water up to the top. Large areas to flood, but sure could make some noise. If you ever want to go dreaming for fountain parts check out this place. I got info from them before. http://www.atlanticfountains.com/index.html www Metalrecipes -- heat and beat to the desired shape, repeat as necessary. » reply Thanks Warren

Hi Janet, the sketch and
Hi Janet, the sketch and concept are great. When you first described it I was envisioning a literal flower on a stem rising into the air with the bloom suspended and water falling off of the petals into a pool(s), but I think I like this one better. It's very graceful and organic. Plus with the petals contacting the ground it will be a lot easier to support. This is a big one, it's got to be roughly 20' tall, have you thought about Materials?
