Book Of Kells shield

Hi, am a newbie here and thought it might be fun to get some feedback. I am an electroformer and cut this shield out of wax. Its solid copper 13 inches wide and about a pennys width.
I am working on some new pieces as well from the Viking age and will share if folks are interested.
Neat forum here, lots of encouragement to the various artists.
Cheers
Sam

Shield

Wow, Cool, thanks for all the comments so quickly. I knew I would like it here. I have been lurking around for a little while and all you guys/gals are really really talented.

Jan, My process is not much different than making large jewelry except instead of casting it I grow copper into a wax mandrel. I feel like Dr Frankenstein often...
I do collect antique arms and armour and own some of the finest examples of Repousse ever created. I started this whole thing by wanting to reproduce items like the Milton shield and then got the bug myself. So this is my first shield I carved from scratch.

Thanks Peggy,
I had a lot of fun making it. It is actually mounted on a sword holder that holds 3 swords. I hope to get some pictures with some Celtic/Viking swords in it at some point.

The patina is Jax Black for copper. I did t/u the background a bit with black paint to keep it consistent.
