Thanx Rich -

It was really a good time with this piece. It all seemed to come together with such a dis-association of time & elements - But I like what happened. Appreciate your kind words!

Great piece Paul!
Wonderful movement...
Is it steel with a patina or bronze?

Dog Art

Mr.Stephen -

Thank You for your compliments. The entire piece is steel except for part of the base, which is 4in. x 4in. treated wood. It's nice to think that the piece looks like bronze, but it is just rolled steel. The patina is a combination of BLO, turpentine and Japan Drier. Once that has dried fairly well, I coat it with Permalac. The work seems to hold up for quite a while with minimal maintenance. I just found a new chemical that is supposed to stop the rust "dead in its tracks" and not re-rust. I plan to use this on my next piece... so I will let you know how it works. It is called "Everbrite Coating". It sorta expensive, so I hope it works!

I am on page 4 of this site, and this is the best piece I have seen yet. You have actually put some thought and design into the project and it shows balance and design. I understand that some people are compelled to make what they consider art work, but are they truly craftsman? My understanding of a craftsman is being able to use their material to make something that posses form, quality, and design, not just making another pile of junk for someone to jam onto a mantel piece. Well done, my eyes can rest and my spirit can enjoy looking at this piece.
