More Views Please

Paul,
I just wanted to walk around the Prodigal and see the back. Could you please show more views.
I went to your web site and enjoyed all your work. My favorite is "eyrie". I probably misspelled that.
What thickness and grade is the stainless sheet that you use. Do you use power to shape the stainless or do it by hand?
Thanks...
Frank

Prodigal

Frank - Thanx for taking a look at the site and you did spell "eyrie" correctly. I actually used carbon steel on this project...the type with the dark grey mill finish. All of the metal forming is thru use of oxy-acet heating and cold forming. I will send some more pics of the piece after i send you this reply.

Thanx Frank,

paul

Prodigal

Paul,
Thank you for the additional views.I never thought of heating mild sheet steel to aid shaping other than shrinking in the middle of a panel.I'll try some heat.
Still wondering about processes for shaping stainless, any hints? Thanks...

Shaping Stainless

Frank - I shape stainless in the same way I shape cold or hot steel...with the oxy-acety torch or by cold forming over different shaped steel forms or into chiseled out wood beams, chiseled with the shape i need to make. The gauge of the steel also makes a difference, as stainless is much harder than cold steel,...but the forming technique is similar with both cold/hot steel and stainless.

I hope i have been of some help to you.

Very expressive Paul! The

Very expressive Paul! The upward direction of the body pointing to the heavens and encasing the bronze heart behind a hinged chest plate clearly communicate experiences that are sometimes very hard to put words to. You have succeeded in capturing one of the emotions of the heart and soul!

Thank you for sharing your self!

Prodigal

Thank you Enrique for your compliments. I really tried to express myself through this piece...so much of my life seems to be one of a long time prodigal...I guess it must show! But what a wonderful medium to express oneself - yet allowing yourself to be exposed to your humanity.

And I want to thank you also for this wonderful web site that enables us, as artists, to communicate and share our works and thoughts...

Sincerely,

Paul
