Sculpture Gallery ![]() This torso is about seven foot tall and made from fairly thin guage cold steel. I have not attempted to do a torso before, but found that as the project continued, it became more of a challenge than I had realized. There is more to the human body than meets the eye...all of the small nuances of the body in motion, is absolutely amazing! I would love to have you share feed-back with me on this piece. I can see now where I would maybe have done this or changed that, but overall I am pleased with the results. Thanx to all, Paul Prodigal

Bill - Thanx for the compliments. I've used 16 guage sheet steel(I never get this right...it is the steel with the dark grey mill finish- not sure if that is cold or hot). Formed the contours with oxy-acet but a lot of the metal was formed cold. I have some more pics, so I will load those up after I send you this email. Thanx again Bill, paul » reply Beautiful

I think you did great, Paul. I really like the sheet 'parts' and how they shape the body and then it gets less angular near the face. Also, the neck area, being more shaped, gives it a more vulnerable feel in that area, open and exposed, in contrast to the more 'armory' body. Very, very cool. Alex p.s. And the darker stuff is hot rolled (I think)... "a special place for a special pet" » reply Prodigal

Alex - I started to write you back and I must have hit my mouse because I lost my screen and am not sure if you got my reply...so i want to resend it to you. Thanx for your compliments on the sculpture. I tried to give a look of anguish to the piece and i am fond of the head and neck area myself, as i think it gives a "vulnerable" feel also. I am so glad you noticed that area - makes me feel as tho all the long hours and work paid off! Thank you so much. Sincerely, Paul » reply torso

I'm a torso kind of artist. It's amazing how much you can explore the figure in just the torso. I like your piece. » reply |

Paul,
Paul,
I think you've captured it WELL. Looks like you were up to the challenge. Great first attempt. I think you've got both nuances and motion. NOT easy. Congrats!!
How are you working the sheet? Hot, Cold? In a bag? Lead? Wood? Just curious. I'd ALSO like to see some more angles, if you've got the pix. :) Head shot?
thanks for sharin Paul.........
