BACULUS

Hi guys, I been trying for weeks to post and hope finally made it, wow! Won`t know till I submit and check back. It`gonna be a thrill to share this third sculpture of mine named "Baculus".Lots of welding and grinding, and the darn thing looks like me.Swear God I intended another face, another body, but it`s amazing! I`ve been working on sculptures seriously on and off for two years.Believe me that seeing sculpture and documenting myself on internet has been didactic and inspiring to me. My first sculptures and stil some, are figurative, but I get bored quick and want to experiment surrealistic and abstract lines of work. If this ain`t a f...up, I will soon post more. Shit, I`m excited! Nelson

Gene thanks for your referrals on stainless coloring. Some of you guys seem to know just about where every little s...can be found. Don`t blame Gene, that 4-letter word talk I also learned back in California. In fact,it was one of the most intense experiences in my life going to college and living in U.S. and guess what! my first welding experience was in U.C.Davis in a Ag Practices class I took up.Actually,I`ll post soon a pic of a little tractor I made welding and brazing bronze on it (my first sculpture I guess).Never could I have thought I would leave my agriculture career to take up onmetal work, and it`s great! One should never regret an event for it`s all links on that unfortunate short chain that life is... Thanks for compliment on BAculus. Nelson.

Rob, it`s about 70 cms. high. Sometimes the pic plays favorably and sometimes it has drawbacks. This defficient photo doesn`t show nice details. No patina at all, simple copper paint, but it has a granular texture to it that enhances the work a lot. See you with your horse.Ì love plants and animals myself. Used to have a horse and tame deer. Now I`ve got 4 pitbulls,3 macaws, and a big list of animals I`d love to add up as I can.Thank you! Nelson.

Have you ever looked at other figurative sculptors work? Most work that i've looked at, take on the artists features.... it's amazing just how much... u are most familiar with u'r own features...so that would translate into u'r work........wouldn't it?

Hi Paula: Most of my

Hi Paula:
Most of my sculptures having a figurative element whether female or male show typical features of myself. Please don`t missunderstand me. In my case,I make no atempt to achieve self resamblance, on the contrary, but it`s amazing what the outcome is!Baculus isn`t simply a sculpture to me.
Curiously, I had to work on it till midnight many days due to limited time to meet competition deadline. My wife underwent surgery and nearly died during the making. It was a very emotional and distressing experience. The snake he`s holding with the stick (baculum is a greek term meaning cane),and comunicating with is nothing else that he`s own mind.Mind could be heaven or could be hell...He, Baculus is controling the snake. Baculus is me and I wish I could some day have more control over that"reptile".Thanks for comenting. Nelson/bac,short for my nickname (from Baculus).
