Hi Moti, Nice work on the Rooster, it looks great. Birchwood Casey makes a brown patina for steel that is pretty easy to use. I'm not sure how available it is in your neck of the woods, but it might be worth looking into. If it's not, I'm sure there is someone here that knows how to make a home concoction to do the same thing.

Pretty nice rooster indeed.

Pretty nice rooster indeed. Did you make the two halves and then welded them together, or is it only one-sided view?

I think this might be the best, and easier way to take on my personal macaws project... I know what you mean by not having some materials readily available in other latitudes.
That`s where ingenious ideas find home Moti. Take care. nelson.

Thank you Nelson! Yes it is

Thank you Nelson!
Yes it is made of two halves for body, third one for abdomen or the part between two legs, Separate halves for two wings, some 14 pcs for Tail and two for head! It is all 22 Gauge MS sheet. I draw the animal or bird I want to make, then again plane for the Patterns after embossing or hammering become the halves like you say, weld them with Gas welding (it is a welding gun which uses carbide gas+ Oxygen. I have one more image of the front of this rooster.Iron Rooster (details)Iron Rooster (details)

I have made some of the Mecaw too! can be seen on my website!

Very nice rooster, good pose

Very nice rooster, good pose and great shape. Legs and feet great too.
Moti see if you can get some ferric nitrate. Works great on steel to get from dark browns to orange rust colors. You can also mix some ferric oxide with it to make reds.

www Metalrecipes -- heat and beat to the desired shape, repeat as necessary.

Love It!

Hi Moti,

I'm glad you are enjoying ArtMetal!!! I'm not usually a big fan of animal sculpture, especially when it's realistic, but this is special...I really love it...great design elements and captures the spirit of the animal!!!! Thumbs up for this one! SteelyJan

Hi I dont know what to call

Hi I dont know what to call you, steely jan or Janet Rutkowski!
Thank you! I am really enjoying ArtMetal, I love it! but because of you people, who are very practicale, frank and Friendly! and Helping! My this rooster is not exactly realistic, it is rather stylized! I was inspired by a BIRD rooster but WHAT I WAS FEELING, I TRIED TO DIPICT THROUGH STYLIZING IT! WHIT ELONGATED FORM, WITH RETHEMIC CURVES, LOOKING UPWORD! TOWORDS ITS TARGET, like Devid!(Sorry to The soul of Michelangelo).
