Thanks Nelson. You're right on both counts, the crow was forged from black iron pipe and the top peice of wood is purpleheart. » reply Matt, just out of curiosity,

Matt, just out of curiosity, where are you located? Is that purple heart imported ? The reason I wonder is because down here in S. America we got plenty. It`s a wood known for its resistance to water. It won`t rot outdoors if it`s off the ground. There`s one though named CARTAN,orange and reddish color that comes close to being a match, it`ll catch on fire inmediately, and resists being in the ground for decades almost unchanged (sour sap for fungus and termites I guess). and About your piece on next thread, with a disc and some brass on top, it looks like a fountain table, is it a church piece? Tell us a bit about it. nelson. » reply Hey Nelson, Yes the

Hey Nelson, Yes the purpleheart is imported, I am located in illinois, I buy scrap peices from a hardwood dealer in st. louis. It's beautiful wood though isn't it. I didn't know it was so weather resistant thanks for the info. the other peice isn't a church piece although it is definitly inspired by baptismal fonts and would work really nicely as one. I actually use it as a birdbath for the time being until it is needed for a show or sold. » reply Wood Question

Hi Matt, nice and powerful
Hi Matt, nice and powerful work. I can feel a heavy message or something, let`s say a strong artist print! Is the crow forged from one piece. I like it. And the wood, looks like purple heart, or is it a dye? Don`t worry about the posting, you`ll get the hang of it.Nelson.
