After Escher

After Escher

Been playing with this for a few weeks.

1/4 inch square stock 6 inchs wide by 2 inch squares. Started out flat and 58 inchs long. Ran it through the slip roller, air hammer (bad idea) and over the anvil.

The ends finally met up and lots of rewelds and clean up later here it is.

Not sure about the mount to the base. Any ideas???

The finish will be a light sand blast and a coat of Penatrol.

Hi kevin,
It seemà you`re going abstract. Not an easy field for me but I`m trying too. In my opinion, this one is one of your best sculptures. Excellent concept and execution. Regarding the base, I think that choice is it! Great! I wouldn`t change it for anything fancier, as I`d not want to distract the expectator attention from that center of interest, the piece itself. Congratulations. nelson.

Thank you. It has been a fun piece to make. I just got a note from the art museum. They are looking for donations for a auction early next year. I am thinking this would be a great one to send them.

Escher would be impressed

Great work Kevin, looks beautiful. And great youtube of you making the object and explaining the roller. Very clear and informative. I don't know why, but for whatever reason, I imagine it based on a fat slab of stone, and installed so it appears to be floating over a reflecting pool. Either way... it's beautiful as it is, thanks for sharing.
