Presenting Diamante

Presenting Diamante

Made out of 1/8 inch plate and standing 9 1/2 feet tall. Both diamonds spin on bearings. The question is do I rust it? Or do I get it painted/powdercoated some bright color? Silver or maybe an off white? Any opinions?

Hi Kevin, I love this

Hi Kevin,
I love this Sculpture!
This is one of my favorites.
I guess I'm just not into the Rusting Finish, which I know you know from my opinions in the past.
I think some of your items look Awesome with a Rusted Finish.
Diamante....
I would look into plating this Piece.
Flash Nickel or Even Chromed with a Clear coat for protection.
Powder coating the Sculpture would be my second Pick.
I agree one the Silver Color, There's Someting about the Raw Steel Color that is Very appealing with this equisite Sculpture you have created.

Again WELL DONE!

Cool weather....Ya Buddy!

Yo Chuckster. Yeah, I am

Yo Chuckster.

Yeah, I am leaning towards a really light sandblast with a light pass with the polish wheel. Then a clearcoat to seal it. I can't plate it or use any kind of dip because it will screw up the bearings for sure.

Has for the cool weather.... OH H LL YEAH time to fire up the forge!!

Hi to the girls

Hi Kevin, Two songs come to

Hi Kevin,
Two songs come to mind: "rust never sleeps" and "shine on your crazy diamond". I`m more for the one by Pink Floyd. Diamonds come in many colors besides the most known cristal clear ones. The can be yellowish like topaz, green like emeralds, blue, pink, and the rear black ones, the most expensive! So in my opinion just about any color you choose would be ok, but I am bias towards a bluish color with shiny highlights, or say sand blasted with shiny, polish or ground highlights. Different folks, different strokes. Your piece has great potential, and I like it!By the way, your shop looks so neat, too clean ! LOL. Nelson.

Hi Nelson Kind of what I am

Hi Nelson

Kind of what I am thinking also.. and the shop only looks like that on photo days. There are times you can't tell what color the floor is for the dust and leaves that blow in on the wind.

Thanks for the comments, I will get some finished photos up when I get them.

Forever

Hi Kevin,
Nice piece. Since your sculpture represents a "cut" diamond, it seems that a shiny finish would be appropriate. The rotating shapes beg for sparkle as they reflect ambient room light. This sculpture also needs to be touched to make it move, so a non-transferable finish seems a must.

Doh' good point Frank. Rust

Doh' good point Frank. Rust would cut down on the "lets play with it" potential. One more vote for paint...

No rust!!!Please!!!!

kevin, absolutely love this piece and the fact that it has movement....it's gorgeous!
Maybe polished steel and a color ...inside /outside...might make it interesting when in motion..No rust!!!!eek!!!
That's my 2cents!!!SteelyJan

Hi SJ Thanks, I am sure

Hi SJ

Thanks, I am sure leaning towards polished. Did not think about that and a color....

Damn, I am going to need more wine to figure this one out.

IMHO....

Hi Kevin,

As partial as I am to rust, I think that would not do this particular work justice.

Something muted that will not draw the focus away from the design on this guy ... maybe a flat finish ??

Hi Kevin,
Nice fabrication, a gunmetal finish would look good.
