Flight of the Corvair

Flight of the Corvair

This work was done in 2008 for the landfillart.org project. The participating artists each transformed an old hub cab into a work of art. I added wings and some polished aluminum bits to a Corvair hubcab. The finish is automotive base coat - clear.

Nice!!

I really like how the wings came out!! And the finish gives it a porcelain look, I wouldn't have guessed it was a Hub Cap! Very Cool!

Thanks Metalheads...

This was a really fun project. I made a tipping wheel for my english wheel to make the slight creases in the wings. You can check out landfillart.org to see the work by other artists. The project is still going on if you're interested.

Hub Cap Referrel

Jim,
Thanks for the email link for the landfill art. I just got word that they are going to send me one. What a great project. I like the Corvair, I think I might try to pound out a design and throw on a patina-we'll see.

that is very unique! i think

that is very unique! i think would give the autoindustry a boost in moral (especially the wings.) See if GM ceo could use this in his office. WE would pay for it in the bail out.
