untitled work

... very recent work utilizing saved items including miniature rail spikes. the way it turned out leaves me searching for a title... mainly because I am now not sure of what the work portrays.

Does it have to have a title? why not leave it "untitled"? the sculpture could have a lot of different meanings for different folks..

Thx Paula,

I think it's moving in that direction. It could be separation, it could be trepidation on one person's part.

Hope all is good for you.

Hi Jim

Hi Jim
I really like this sculpture and the way you have used saved items like the miniature railway spikes, i think it gives the work a resonance which is what speaks to me about this sculpture. I had a look at your website and like your work very much.

Thx,

I've been fortunate to be able to find beauty or message in my medium ( various scrap treasures ) and to bring it to the surface.

I've been very fortunate that individuals have seen what it is I do and have helped me to acquire the scrap. Salvage yards, machine shops, track maintenance shops have been generous - allowing me to create these works.

title of work

my suggestion was just a response to the visual.
the touch between the 2 figures... to think you said
something so fleshy, in iron!
glad you're shook up! cuz your work is good, simple...
i noticed you took a break and came back. i think you
came back cleaner more focused ....straight forward.
i read once that a "Great" book leaves you looking beyond
the last page, the last scene, looking beyond the horizon.
This is how i see your last few posts on this forum.

p.s. "Treblinka" is a great story, man at its worst, Man at His Best.

Thx Charley,

Some of the works are on exhibit at the H Gallery - 327 / 329 W 19th Str in the Houston Heights - the work above is not there currently.

There may be a show of the works there sometime next year.

Hi Jim.
In looking at your sculpture the words CAUTION, DISCOVERY, and AMAZEMENT come to mind. I find this sculpture very misterious, and expresive. nelson.

thx bro,

it's been either trepidation or separation... when I got done with it I realized that I'd created something that I didn't quit understand. I think the most mysterious and meaningful aspect is the second being is pulling back on the first with both hands
