Mystery Ship

Mystery Ship

This is created from a chunk of rail steel, an old leaf spring, a shock absorber shaft and.... I added some glass beads for a little something extra. The work weighs about 50 or 60 lbs.

Thank you John

thank you John...

uh... what did it say?

I'd picked up the little leaf spring a long time ago, it was destined to be a sail. When I got the chunk of rail steel, I had the rest of the boat.

This particular project was very time consuming. Drilling 1/16" holes in spring steel doesn't go real easily, about 5 or 6 bits broke off in the holes in the process. Stringing all of the beads was on the time consuming end also.

But the work turned out pretty good. I took it to an artist mart today and some mariner types gave it a lot of looking.

I've got a website out there - ADAMS-FERRO.COM with most of my works shown. The works go in several different directions.

Jim
